BROCHURES OVER THE YEARS

The heart of Ticky's Open Summer Course has not changed much over 35 years - why change a winning formula?

Even the brochures advertising each year have not changed that much - except in 1986 when the design went 'vertical' and of course in 1999 when the familiar red background gave way to blue! Maybe it was to mark the end of the millennium? However, the red was soon back . . . Of course Gi's don't follow fashion, but look closely at the photos and fashion is there in the cut of the tracksuits and the hairstyles! Click on an image to view a brochure in full - these are just a sample selected to show changes over the years.

1976 - THE YEAR IT ALL STARTED

In 1976 you could grade under the British Karate Association, and enjoy the last-night disco when disco records were still being released! You could even hire a TV for the week! (By 1977 Colour TVs were provided and you knew you were on holiday!). Anyone able to remember that year will recall the summer's drought (the worst in 250 years) and stand-pipes but memories of ABBA in the charts are perhaps more sketchy.

The world may have moved on in leaps and bounds but the high quality training to be found in Clacton is as valuable now as it always was.
